I thought it was about time I wrote something on here otherwise you would think I had disappeared!

I have been busy at work doing the day job and it has been leaving me a little weary so all my writing has taken a backseat. BUT now I am back and will get into the swing again.

I have just had a fabulous holiday in Lanzarote it was very hot and there was masses of food, not good when you are weight watching you would say, but, the hotel produced everything from healthy to not so healthy so it was up to us not to be tempted.

I have now gone back to my previous day job of secretarial and computing so will have my fingers nearer the keys so no excuses. Watch this space.

Having had a fairly busy week I decided that today (Saturday) I would have a me day which I have not done in a while. So after walking Bess I set off for Cardiff. My hairdresser is on maternity leave so I had my hair cut done by the new stylist a couple of weeks ago at the same hairdressers. This was not a success. So I parked in one of the many expensive car parks in town and headed for John Lewis and low and behold right next to the entrance was a very inviting Hair and Beauty Spa (please note, not a hairdresser). On enquiring if they could fit me in today I was told yes and right away. I waited about 5 minutes and then they said there had been a mistake and it would be about fifteen minutes and would I like a complimentary file and polish, gosh I thought the day couldn’t get any better as it would save me trying to do them this evening with Bess wanting to help.

After my nails were done ( I was also supplied with two excellent cups of coffee) I was escorted to the chair. The stylist asked me how I wanted my hair and then given a head massage with oils, at the basin I was seated in a very comfortable chair and asked if I would like the massage pad turned on? Would I?? The stylist who cut my hair was very efficient and seemed to understand how I wanted it to look, which is very unusual. They also offer a maintenance trim every three weeks and discounts for referrals. I left there without having to take out a loan and the biggest surprise is they are open on a Sunday. RESULT! So I am all poshed up to go and judge dogs tomorrow.

I finished my me day with lunch at my favourite Italian Restaurant which was as usual delicious.

#blog weekly roundup

This week has seen me laid low with a sinus infection. I don’t do illness so very tiresome. I have so much to do at home which I rarely see so a week at home should be a wonderful time for catching up.  Sadly I didn’t feel well enough to do anything until its now time to leave to go back to work.

Today is glorious here in Wales and really lifts the spirits. Instead of walking Bess round the lower lake and up on the mountain we got in the car and went to the upper lake.  Its quieter there and the setting is so tranquil. I have posted some pictures at the bottom of this post and there are a few pics on the bess blog of her enjoying the water in the stream. We have had a very wet week here so plenty of water flowing down from the mountains.

Here we are nearing the latter part of February and apart from the odd bit of snow Spring is on the way. Today there was a definite change in the air and the birds have been very busy. The Red Kites have paired up and have started swooping around the wood where they make their nests. The rooks in the big trees behind the house have been giving the rookery a makeover and have been extremely noisy about it.

The birds are still eating greadily from the nut feeders and the biggest culprit is the spotted woodpecker, she arrives several times a day and fills up, we think its a female as we believe the male has a red spot on his head and this one doesn’t. We have clouds of fieldfares in the fields where the sheep where and on the edge of the wood the buzzard has been resting on the fence post watching the world go by.

Unusually we have two robins  I always thought they chased their relatives away but these two a real buddies! they come and pick up the stray nuts and crumbs dropped by the blue and coal tits and many chaffinches. There are many blackbirds in evidence and sparrows.

At nightfall the deer have been calling a very eerie sound if you are not used to it.

Sunset

Busy, busy, busy no change from last year.  I don’t make New Year resolutions as I have targets during the year and make my own deadlines which are considerably stretched at times. The busier I am the more I seem to take on. Because I am freelance I never like to turn down the offer of work consequently I am multitasking non stop!

Not only working in several different places doing many different things I am doing two writing courses, which, I have wanted to do for some years and never got my act together. I am enjoying one more than the other as it comes quite easily where as the other one needs more time spent on it which I don’t have, but I am determined to keep going.

Having worked over most of Christmas I took a week off and went home to Wales last week. What weather! we had the works, massive gales, hail and rain but as I now have Bess we couldn’t hide in bed and had to brave the elements. Needless to say one of us thoroughly enjoyed it!

#A Christmas Blog

After several weeks I have managed to put finger to

key and write a few short sentences so that I am not forgotten.

Life has been extremely busy with all my ever increasing duties that computing of any seriousness has gone by the board. Now Christmas Day is over perhaps normal service will resume.  I am spending my weeks caring for someone and looking after house and animals so plenty had to be done in recent weeks. I have the added duty of my 5 month old puppy who I have to say is amazingly good.  I try and keep the same routine wherever I am so that her timetable isn’t disrupted.  We have been staying with my mother who is now 92 over the Christmas weekend who having had a lifetime with dogs (show dogs mostly) took a little time to accept a working springer who at this stage is all arms legs and body like a whippet! I think they have now ‘bonded’ a bit so we are getting there.  Bess is a bit busy at times but she plays with her toys or sleeps in her crate when asked.

We both go back to work tomorrow until the weekend and then we are going to have a week at home in Wales whatever anyone says! We have not been home for 6 weeks so am looking forward to catching up with Welsh friends and hopefully have some relaxation.

I trust everyone has had a good Christmas and wishing all the best for 2012
